In 1988 I made decision to ride my bicycle across the United States. During that two month adventure of 3349 miles, I had an ongoing sense of accomplishment that would make an impact on my choices, decisions and challenges for the years ahead. In 1995 I video taped and co-produced a 30 minute video. This project introduced me to the the entire process of video production, editing and scriptwriting. This video for the St.Croix Band of Lake Superior Chippewa of Wisconsin was a documentary of the Tribal Elders sharing their wisdom, culture and traditions with youth at a summer camp in northern Wisconsin. My experience and interest in working with people of all ethnic and diverse lifestyles, combined with my interest and knowledge in the outdoors was bringing the concept of Video Ventures into focus.
To date Video Ventures has recorded in the following locations:
Athabascan Tribal Elders and Youth singing and dancing traditional songs in Alaska.
Halibut and Artic Grayling fishing in Alaska
Quail hunting in Arizona
Steelhead fishing in Olympic Peninsula, Washington
Duck hunting in North Dakota
Bear hunting in Minnesota
Flyfishing in Wisconsin
400 mile bicycle reunion ride through northeastern Wisconsin (Door County)
Current projects: Creation of an educational video depicting the relationship of French Voyageurs and the Ojibwe Tribes of Wisconsin from past to present time at the Fort Folle Avoine Historical Park located in Webster, Wisconsin.
